Restaurants Around Petrská
Our small street of Petrská has a number of wonderful eateries. Na Poříčí, the main street a block from our front door has many more options to boot. (It’s also where the tram and metro stations are located.) Here are a few of our regular haunts. Prague is full of top-flight restaurants; these are our locals.
Cafe Imperial, Na Poříčí 1072/15, 110 00 Petrská čtvrť
The perfect breakfast spot with free wifi. But get there super early to get a table if you don’t have a reservation, especially during the summer tourist season. The grand cafe is an art deco gem built in 1914. I often work out of here early in the morning, before other coffee shops or my workspace at Opero open.
Sansho, 1170/25 Petrská, (+420) 739 592 336
Step out our front door, turn left and your here. Put yourself in the hands of the chef at Sansho and relax. Whatever he brings you will be delicious and fresh. Originally a chef’s choice-only type of place, I believe they now have a full menu as well.
Las Adelitas, Petrská 1551/23, (+420) 233 331 569
Catty corner to Sansho is the Mexican eatery Las Adelitas. There’s a nice garden in the back courtyard. Good place for a traditional margarita, when the mood strikes.
I love sushi. In fact, I could eat sushi everyday, which is why we’re lucky to have two of the top sushi restaurants in Prague less than a minute from our front door.
Hanabi Sushi House, 3 Petrská, (+420) 222 324 634
Hanabi’s offers a wide variety of Japanese dishes, including some of the best sushi in the city. You always need a reservation here. ihanabi.cz
Sakana, 19 Petrská, (+420) 777 769 788
Directly across the street from Hanabi is Sakana, which bills itself as an Asian fusion restaurant but the sushi is amazing. Sakana first opened in Brno and this little corner location in Petrská is their toehold in Prague. Sakana is less expensive than Hanabi and I’ve never needed a reservation. This place is my new favorite.
Amano, Na Poříčí 48, (+420) 602 201 720
Eva and her late father used to meet here for lunch. It’s a good choice for modern Italian in the neighborhood.
K – The Two Brothers, Petrská 1136/12, Petrská čtvrť, (+420) 775 494 213
It took us years to try this traditional Indian restaurant right on Petrska square, but it quickly became a favorite once we did.
Alforno Trattoria, Petrské nám. 4, (+420) 222 316 011
Alforno is that go-to place for traditional Italian and pizza when the kid is in meltdown mode or a late dinner is needed at the last moment. Alforno is typically busy, but they’ve always been able to get us in without a reservation.
For a quick espresso, there’s a wonderful little coffee shop right off Petrska square.
Grand Cru, 4, Lodecká 1181, Petrská čtvrť, (+420) 775 044 076
Another high-end restaurant in the Petrská neighborhood that is worth a visit is Grand Cru. Make sure to make reservations, though. As with many of the restaurants in the area, it can take a week or more to get a table.

Slightly Further Afield
There are tons of great restaurants in every direction in Prague. The Karlin neighborhood directly across from our balcony (on the other side of the Wilsonova highway) is an oasis of thai and other asian food. It also has some very good Czech traditional restaurants and “tankovas.” It suffered the worst in the 2002 flood, prompting a massive renovation project that created one of Prague’s funkiest and liveliest ‘hoods. Definitely worth a stroll down to Karlínské náměstí to see the St. Cyril church and grab an espresso.
Woodhouse Lounge Marina, DĚTSKÝ OSTROV 3197, PRAHA 5, (+420) 775 775 167
