A Walk Thru Our Flat

Our apartment is small in size, but it’s home when we’re in Prague. There is still no kitchen. The tiny kitchen wall project keeps getting put off until we are there long enough at any one spell to order the materials, and schedule the workers. There is a small fridge and a set of dishes and silverware, so you can make a snack at any hour.

Some of the best restaurants in the city are right outside our doorstep and are not to be missed, so we rarely miss a kitchen. More about nearby restaurants here.

There’s a fold-out couch with a large bed and a chair that converts into a comfy single bed. If your party is larger than a couple and a child, the EA Embassy Hotel is right across the street. We sometimes stay there ourselves when we need an extra room (our wee one is now a teen). It’s very nice and affordable, especially on weeknights. It also has a spa where you can rent private saunas and baths. (See photos of EA Embassy Hotel below.)

The front entrance looks a bit rough, but the neighborhood is great and the area is safe. The apartment belonged to Eva’s maternal grandfather.

When you walk up to the front door, take a moment to look down at the two small brass cobblestones, or stolpersteins in Czech, memorializing former residents who died in the Holocaust.

Use the green key fob on the pad to the right of the front door or the key to open the outside door. Make sure you close it behind you. Once inside, the elevator and stairs are directly in front of you. Our flat is on the top floor. The elevator buttons won’t work until the door is all the way closed. Once you reach the top floor, walk through the hallway to the very end. Our door has “Dillon” on it. We have a cleaner come after each stay, so the apartment will be clean. There’s bedding and towels.

A second set of keys are hanging on the inside of our front door.

You’ll need to turn the water on to use the washing machine in the bathroom. The handle is right behind the washer and dryer stack. The fridge will need to be plugged in, as will the wifi modem in the main room. Otherwise, everything should be good to go. Instructions on logging into the wifi and other details are below.

Trash cans and recycling are behind the large garage door on the left side when you step out of the building. There is a key to the garage door on both keyrings. (See the Instruction photos below.)

In case of emergency, you can call Eva’s sister Anna at (00 420) 725 788 364. You can always call or text us, of course. My U.S.-based cell is (202) 285 6783.
